Corny Catch-up

Q. What do you say to a three headed ghost?
A. Hello, Hello, Hello!
It's beginning to look a lot like Halloween
Ev'rywhere you go;
Take a look in the five and ten, frightening once again
With candy corn and pumpkins rigged to glow.
It's beginning to look a lot like Halloween
Costumes in
ev'ry store
But the spookiest sight to see is the monsters that will be
At your own front door.
(The above is my own original adaptation...no cut and paste creativity for me!)

The corn is beginning to take on a Halloween look.  It is drying out and will soon be ready for people to steal so they can make cute cornstalk bunches to put on their front porch.
The corn kernels are dark yellow and beginning to indent as they dry.

The ears are full size and about as long as a size 8 woman's walking shoe and significantly larger than a Pug's paw.

My guess is that the corn will be harvested right around Halloween. However, if we don't get snow and it just gets cold; it could stand until late November.

Keeping in the Halloween state of mind, Simon the cat has been practicing his glowing eyes.
He's getting good at it.

  2. There's a cornfield around the corner from where I live. It didn't manage to get more than four feet tall this year and is already dried to a crisp. I hadn't thought much about it until I saw that your corn still has some green left. It's been a very dry season for Jersey.
