How to Catch a (Hammond) Man

I was reading some of the life history stories from my husband's family. They are and were a hard working bunch so this little love story fits right into place.

Rebecca Jensen, daughter of Jens Anton and Elsie Andreasen Jensen came to our home.
I will never forget the day she came. I had a boiler of hot water on the coal stove with lye in it to clean the chicken coop before putting the pullets in. She knew just what to do and helped me with everything. It was not long till we thought a lot of each other. We were married the 4th of October 1934 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Thank goodness a few things have changed over the years. I didn't have to clean a chicken coop to catch my husband's eye.
