Spring Cleaning Frenzy

This spring I have decided to organize, paint, and in general spruce up the downstairs of our house.  The first job I tackled was the tool cupboards.  Since Dave got out of farming, eleven years ago, the tools have migrated into the house. We don't have a garage and I don't like to rummage around in the old farm shop for tools. If you saw the old shop you wouldn't go in there either. The electricity is disconnected so you can't turn on the lights and it is the happy home to spiders, mice, stray cats, and (I am not kidding) the occasional bat.
When we remodeled our house 26 years ago, the kitchen in the downstairs became a mini kitchen, laundry room, storage area. The tools are in the old kitchen cupboards. It was to the point where rummaging around for the right tool was so difficult it made it hard to want to do whatever job I needed the tool for in the first place. It took a couple of days, but the tools are organized!
A pictorial array of the results is below. I had to be creative with some of the names of the tools. Don't judge me, just because I don't know what all the tools are called doesn't mean I don't know how to use them.

  4. Craig and I both label things according to what makes sense to us. Craig also has a habit of creating slant homonyms - such as referring to mementos as "men's toes." Since we have shared mementos as well as individual mementos there are boxes labeled: "Liz toes," "Craig toes," and "family toes."
