For Best Results...

I tried a new shampoo today.  It is a category of shampoo that I rarely buy-- over priced fancy pants. My daughter told me about the brand, Fekkai, and how she likes it but, alas, it is too expensive.  Not long after that conversation, I was in Rite-Aid and saw their discount bin brimming with Fekkai shampoos, conditioners and hairsprays for 75% off!  I was so surprised that I asked an employee about it. She told me that they were closing out the brand because it was just too expensive for the average Rite-Aid shopper. (That would be me).  I was so excited and loaded up my cart with Fekkai products at Suave prices.  I sent most of it to Sarah for a fun surprise, but I kept the one specifically for color treated hair for myself.

Side note- I have colored my hair for about two years.  It has a little, not a lot, of grey and the color is not much different than my own. It has a bit more red.  The other week I was attending church out of town where I saw a man  I had not seen in about five years and never knew well.  He walked up to me with a look of surprise and disapproval on his face then greeted me with, "you colored your hair!"  Since my hair isn't colored teal or shocking pink, the only way my mind, with its propensity for self criticism, could interpret this remark was, "wow, you look old."  Later, I was telling my husband that this encounter made me feel a little bad and he asked why I didn't respond with, "yes and you've gone bald."  Sometimes I really wish I had the nerve to say things like that.

Before using the shampoo, I read the directions. It's not like I haven't shampooed my hair a billion times, but you know, it's always good to follow directions.  They read: For best results: massage into wet hair, lather and rinse. Avoid contact with eyes.  It made me wonder what I should do if I wanted something other than the best result.  Here are my revised directions.
For a below average result: squirt shampoo on dry hair, swish your head under water for a bit, towel dry
For a bad result: squirt shampoo on dry hair, put on a stocking cap and call it good.
For the worst result: squirt shampoo directly into your eye!
