Elsa and Fred

Thanks to Netflix, Dave and I have been watching more foreign films lately. Tonight we watched Elsa and Fred. It is a Spanish-Argentine film that takes place mostly in Madrid. It was lots of fun to watch. It is a romantic comedy with the main characters being in their late 70's early 80's. It's sweet but not too sweet, sad but not too sad and more clever than belly laugh funny.  It addresses themes like Joie de Vivre  (and no, I do not think that is Spanish, it just so happens that this French phrase expresses what I am thinking) and of course, love.  In one scene Elsa says "victory is ours" as they exit her apartment for an adventure. Now I want to start saying "Victory is ours" when I go out the door in the mornings and maybe I just will.
I haven't had a particular interest or disinterest in visiting Spain but now I want to go to Madrid.  There are so many places I want to go and so many things I want to see. Perhaps Dave should retire early and we should pack our bags.

  1. I'm trying to get Jay to do that. But it looks like it's a fat chance for us. Maybe you guys could actually do it! :)
