Bye Bye Birdie

It takes me a while to think clearly in the morning, but the fact that there was a bird looking out the windshield at me as I approached my car today was undeniable.  It was a cute little bird and that was actually my first thought. Aww, there's a cute little bird in my car.  Wait, there's a bird IN my car.  Then the events of the previous evening came back to me.
After classes I stopped at the store. When I got home it was raining and I didn't want to make two trips between the house and the car. I loaded up all the grocery bags but then I couldn't close the sliding van door. When I got in the house I told Dave I was going back out to close the door.  He said he was going out to walk the dog in a few minutes and he would close the door so I wouldn't have to go out in the rain again. So much for good intentions.
There were also lots and lots of coyotes howling last night.  As I tried to shoo the bird out I imagined the coyotes hooting and hollering as they watched the bird fly around the car.  "Hey bird, all you have to do is fly out the way you came in. It's that big open space NOT covered by glass.  Hehehe, birds are the best.  Darn, I left my video camera back in the den.  Aaawooooo! What a night!"
I opened all the doors and the bird finally flew away free. There was bird poop all over the steering wheel and dash board. Fortunately, I have hand wipes in the car so I wiped down the steering wheel and just had to leave the rest so I wouldn't be late.  While I am not happy with the mess, I am glad it was a bird sitting on the dash board this morning and not a coyote sitting in the drivers seat.
