I'm making plans to paint and generally fix up our guest bathroom. The wallpaper has been the same for 24 years and that is not an exaggeration. I'm not very talented in the redecorating department so once I find something I like, I stick with it. Sometimes I have a hard time with change and so I hate things just because they are not the same as they were before the change. I feel this way after every haircut and don't even ask about the time I got new carpeting in my bedroom. I made myself and everyone else miserable for weeks. As I write this, it is dawning on me why Dave is so nervous about the bathroom re-do.
Today I brought some paint color samples home from the hardware store. I wish the names of the paint colors were less creative and more informative. Some of the colors I have to choose from are: Scone, Dried Hydrangia, Sweet Cream, and Cheyenne hills. These names don't help me at all. They only confuse the issue by giving a color that I don't think will work well, a name that I like. What if I want to use that color just because of the name? It could happen. It would be much more helpful to me to just name them off white with brown, or yellow or blue or grey or pink or green undertones. Better yet would be to put the paint formula on the color card. The name would then be something like 10 white, 2 brown, 1 yellow. I would know I don't want that one with the yellow sneaking in there and making my skin look like death in the bathroom mirror. I would much rather have the 10 white, 2 brown, 1 pink; but how will I ever find it with some wacky name like High Mesa? I don't know what I am doing but I think I am going to go with Scone as the main color and Misty Morn as the accent color. Now poor Dave just has to hope and pray that I haven't decided on these colors just because scones on a misty morning sounds quite lovely and delicious. If I don't like it, I'll try to be nice. Better yet, I'll try to give it some time and not hate it right away regardless of how good it may or may not look.
You should write a book. You are soooooooo funny!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I vote for scone - it sounds delicious..
Not a fan of change and yet this blog is "Subject to Change Without Notice"?
ReplyDeleteCall me crazy, but I understand completely.
